ZTE is to cut down 3000 employees

Reuters cited words from ZTE senior officials that the company is to shed 3000 employees. Two-third are from mobile phone department which doesn’t run well.
 
The reports said ZTE has 60000 staff around the world. It will cut down 5% of them. Global mobile phone department is going to lay off 600 staff, which accounts for 10% of whole department.
 
A manager of ZTE mobile business overseas subsidiary indicated his department was asked to shed 10% staff. Furthermore, “some employees was named to be lay off because they have once tried to apply for Huawei, which is the company’s main competitor. Hence they are viewed as ‘unstable factors’.”
 
IDC statistic showed that ZTE’s global shipment of smart phones last year had decreased 36.5% to 2015.
