Microsoft lays off 2850 staff globally and shuts down Skype

Acquired by tycoon does not mean good ending.
 
Microsoft stated in annual report the other day, they were planning to lay off 2850 staff in 4th quarter, 2016. As a part of the redundancy plan, Skype’s London headquarters would be shut down. 400 Skype employees would lose their jobs.

Microsoft said the shutting is for unifying some technical position, as a result, some of other regions’ Skype and financial positions might be affected. Microsoft said they would engage consultant firm to help those who were unemployed.
 
Satya Nadella, new CEO of Microsoft indicated that Microsoft was turning to further develop Azure smart cloud business and made it next successful business of Microsoft.
 
Earlier this year, the company has purchased LinkedIn in 2.62 billion dollars. It’s Microsoft’s third tries in social network field.
